Lossless by default

WAV export is the default here, and it never re-encodes. The samples inside your selected range are copied as they are and written into a new WAV file, so nothing is added and nothing is thrown away.

Choose the range with the handles, check it with Play selection, then download. Start and end times can also be typed to the hundredth of a second when you need an exact cut.

How WAV trimming works

A WAV file is a short header followed by raw PCM samples. Cutting it means reading the samples between your start and end points and writing them out with a fresh 44-byte header that describes the new length.

That is all this page does. Your browser decodes the file into memory, the selected samples are copied, and a new WAV is assembled on your device. The math is exact: the exported length matches the selected length to a single sample.

MP3 export is also available when you need a smaller file, but MP3 requires re-encoding. Use WAV when the original audio matters.

WAV Cutter FAQ

Is WAV export lossless?

Yes. WAV trimming copies the original samples without re-encoding, so the output is identical to the source within the selected range.

Why is the WAV file bigger than my MP3?

WAV stores uncompressed audio. A 30-second WAV is roughly 5 MB; the same clip as MP3 is under 1 MB.
