Make a ringtone in 30 seconds

Load the song, drag the handles around the chorus, play it back, then download the clip. The trim and the download all happen on your device.

Short selections work best. Aim for 25 to 30 seconds so the ringtone has room to breathe before your phone gives up and sends the call to voicemail.

Ringtones are short edits. You pick the bar you want, the same way a desk does.

iPhone (.m4r)

An iPhone ringtone is wrapped in an AAC file that GarageBand writes. So the download here is the clip as MP3, and GarageBand turns it into a ringtone in three steps.

  1. Pick the part you want (40 seconds or less) and download it as MP3
  2. Open GarageBand on your iPhone, create a new Audio Recorder project, and import the file
  3. Long-press the track → Share → Ringtone → name it → set it in Settings → Sounds

Keep the selection at 40 seconds or less. That is an iOS limit, not ours. Why not a direct .m4r file?

Android (.mp3)

Android phones take plain MP3 files as ringtones. Choose a bitrate (192 kbps is a good default), press Download MP3, then move the file into your phone's Ringtones folder.

On most Android builds you can also open the downloaded file, choose Set as, and pick Phone ringtone. The file is already on your device, nothing is fetched from a server.

iPhone ringtones must be 40 seconds or shorter. We warn you if your selection is longer.

Do I need iTunes?

No. On macOS you can drag the .m4r into Finder. On Windows, use iMazing or the Files app.
